The American Wedding Group is the nation's premier wedding service company. Founded in 1978, our core brand became the nation's most recognized, recommended and chosen wedding service in the United States. Ultimately, American Wedding Group was established to give us the flexibility to meet the varying tastes and needs of today's bride. Today, American Wedding Group locally serves over 50 markets through our four distinctive house brands and leading industry partners.

The Award-winning Network

Our award-winning national network of photographers, videographers and disc jockeys are personally selected for their artistry, personality, and dedication to their craft. Every professional must go through a lengthy certification process, including a 4 page application, review of references, multiple phone and in-person interviews, and approval by no less than 3 AWG executives.

As a result, our photographers, videographers and disc jockeys average 12 years of professional experience prior to recruitment, and only 1 in 10 are invited to be part of the team. Our professionals have won countless awards, including being recognized with "Best of Weddings" by Knot Brides, several "Bride Choice Awards", and multiple 1st place finishes in National WPPI & MPPA Photography contests. Our photography has been featured in national wedding publications such as Brides and Modern Bride.

A Family Business

The Tessler family is proud to have been in family business for three generations. Dennis (CEO) has been the chief architect of American Wedding Group's success for over 20 years and, inspired by the passion their father showed for his work, was joined by his two sons in the late 90s. Keith (COO) and Brian (CMO) have displayed interest and aptitude in complimentary fields. Keith is the structural engineer behind American Wedding Group's operational system. Dennis Tessler Principal & Chairman of the Board
After a very successful 23 years building businesses within the jewelry industry, Dennis decided to bring his extensive business acumen to the wedding industry in 1991. He implemented his vision of reshaping a local DJ company into a distinctive, nation-wide family of brands which also include Video and Photography services- a rarity at the time. Though he has always taken enormous pride in seeing the continued growth and success of his ventures, Dennis considers his greatest achievement to be building the businesses with his sons.
Keith Tessler Principal & COO
Since joining the organization in 1995 as Head of Production and Information Technology, Keith has made it his mission to make wedding dreams affordable for brides. Along with finding ways to attract top talent and develop innovative products, Keith has created the industry’s only enterprise-spanning, fully automated wedding production system, which enables the company to deliver wedding dreams at exceptional value.
Brian Tessler Principal & CMO
Since beginning his career in the wedding industry in 2000, Brian has been one of the creative forces driving the company’s message to brides and grooms throughout the nation. Along with managing the Sales and Marketing departments, Brian has been the architect in designing new and inventive brands and pioneering the company’s expansion to new heights.
Hugh Riley CEO
From “mailroom to corner office” can best describe Hugh’s ascent to becoming an Executive with the company. After beginning as an Assistant Manager of a small local branch in 1985, today Hugh currently oversees seven Directors who manage over 1200 professionals in over 50 major cities, and is keenly involved in ensuring brides and grooms receive the very best in wedding services. Hugh believes in leading by example as he is the first and only professional in the company who is certified as a wedding Disc Jockey, Videographer, and Photographer.
Kat McOwen Director of Marketing
Utilizing her background in Communications and Sales, Kat began her career with the company in 2008. As a recent bride herself, Kat has a unique understanding of what engaged couples are seeking for their own weddings, and continually strives to tap into the pulse of today’s brides and grooms by utilizing social media and a fresh approach to marketing American Wedding Group’s message.
Kelly McMurtry Director of Sales
Kelly McMurtry has worked with brides across the country to help them get amazing services at an affordable cost. After 3 years, she moved from the sales floor to the production team, where she managed our southwest professionals. Now leading the sales team, Kelly has the ability to understand the company as a whole, and is proud to work for a family owned and operated business. She's happiest at home with a good book and her rescue cat, Fitz.
